Last night was the Grand Opening of the new Apple Store in Midtown Manhattan (59th & 5th; in front of FAO Schwartz).

The store opened at 6PM with a line 9 blocks long that covered a full square city block and snaked back to Madison avenue and up to 63rd. Jeanie and I joined the line at 61st street around 6:30, and were finally able to enter the building at 9PM. Once inside, it was a party atmosphere. Dozens of employees chatting with hundreds of customers, with a few celebrities among the mix. Steve Jobs, Spike Lee, Harry Connick Jr,  Kanye West, Dave Chapelle, Matthew Modine, & some SNL cast members were all there to join in the fun and bid for the free Macbook given away every hour. Jeanie and I left just after midnight.
